
The Sweet Springs Board of Aldermen approved the 2024 Tax Levy during its meeting on Monday, August 12.
The board held a public hearing prior to the meeting, where it was noted that the proposed rate is $.1083 lower than 2023.
According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board approved both readings of an ordinance to set the 2024 Tax Levy at $1.9610 per $100 of assessed valuation.
In other news, the board heard an update on the Daisy Street waterline project. The project is reportedly nearing completion, and the city has spent $148,803 in labor and an additional $17,673.90 on supplies for the project. After some discussion, the board approved a motion to have Earthworks Excavation to do the final grade of the ground for $9,000, and the Public Works department to do final seeding and straw. The motion passes with a 3-1 vote, with Aldermen Trey Schleicher voting no.
