The St Louis Cardinals snapped a five-game skid with three home runs in a 5-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday night at Busch Stadium.

Alec Burleson’s two-run home run in the third put the Cardinals up for good, while Masyn Winn and Nolan Arenado added solo shots. Willson Contreras had an RBI single in the first to counteract Freddie Freeman’s opening single. Shohei Ohtani accounted for both Dodger runs, coming across home on Freeman’s hit in the first as well as a home run in the fifth.

Andre Pallante earned his fifth win of the year, going seven innings and allowing all four Dodger hits along with two walks, while striking out five. JoJo Romero and Ryan Helsley didn’t allow any more hits, with Helsley securing his 38th save of the season.

Both the Braves and Mets won last night, keeping the Cardinals (61-62) four games back in the NL Wild Card race, tied with San Francisco while a half-game ahead of Chicago. Milwaukee sit ten games ahead in the NL Central. The Cardinals wrap up the series against the Dodgers on Sunday afternoon at 2:15.
