The City of Houstonia is under a 48-hour boil advisory.
The city replaced water meters on Monday, August 19, which required water service to be shut off throughout the city. Whenever water service gets interrupted, a boil advisory goes into effect.
The advisory went into effect at 2:30 p.m. Monday.
Residents should use bottled or boiled water for drinking, and to prepare and cook food. If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute. After boiling, allow the water to cool before use.
