Fresh off their 1-0 Women’s Cup victory over Atlético de Madrid, the Kansas City Current is parting ways with a forward they drafted last year.

The NWSL squad announced Monday that they have traded forward Alexa Spaanstra to the Portland Thorns for $40,000 in allocation and intra-league transfer funds. Spaanstra was drafted last year with the tenth overall pick and made her debut against North Carolina. The University of Virginia graduate scored her first goal against the Houston Dash, one of four she recorded in 37 games for Kansas City.
