The Slater City Council approved a bill authorizing Mayor Terry Jordan to sign for the Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant funding the city is receiving.

It was announced the city received a $339,520 TAP grant during the council’s meeting on July 16. City Administrator Gene Griffith says this bill authorizes Jordan to sign any paperwork from the Missouri Department of Transportation in relation to the grant.

The funds are being used to construct sidewalks in the city.

In other news, the council approved the tax rate for the next fiscal year. Griffith said the rate has risen slightly from last year. The current rate is $1.0263 per $100 valuation. The council approved both readings of an ordinance to set the tax rate.
