The St. Louis Cardinals came out on top 3-0 in a pitchers duel against the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday, August 22.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the seventh inning, when Willson Contreras drew a bases loaded walk to score the first run. Brendan Donovan drove in the second run with a force out, then Nolan Arenado drilled an RBI single to add to the lead.

Miles Mikolas went six scoreless innings, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out three. Andrew Kittredge picked up the win, pitching clean inning in the seventh. Ryan Helsley picked up his 39th save of the season with a scoreless ninth.

The Cardinals improve to 63-64 on the season, still ten games back of the Brewers for the NL Central. St. Louis sits 4.5 games back of Atlanta for the third wildcard spot.
