A day after leaving the bases loaded in the ninth, the St Louis Cardinals were able to bring their runners home in the ninth and tenth innings, upending the Milwaukee Brewers 10-6 on Wednesday night at Busch Stadium.

The NL Central-leading Brewers gave up the lead three times, including in the seventh on a two-run home run to a pinch-hitting Luken Baker, in his first at-bat in the majors this season. The Brewers reclaimed a two-run lead in the eighth off a double, but reliever Devin Williams blew his save attempt when he walked in two runs on eight consecutive balls to gift the Cardinals an extra frame. The tenth inning saw Ryan Helsley strike out two to keep the Brewers from bringing their leadoff runner home. Afterward, the Cardinals used a lineout and two walks to load the bases for Nolan Arenado, who turned a one-two pitch from Trevor Megill into a no-doubt, walk-off grand slam to left field.

Arenado and Masyn Winn both had three hits on the night, with Arenado a triple shy of the cycle. Milwaukee’s Jackson Chourio had four hits, including a triple to lead off the sixth.

The Cardinals bring their record to 62-64, 11 games behind Milwaukee in the NL Central, and five games behind Atlanta in the wild card chase. The series against the Brewers concludes Thursday afternoon with first pitch at 1:15.
