The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced the completion of the fourth bridge in their Northwest Bridge Bundle.
The Route F bridge in Chariton County over Palmer Creek, just west of the junction with Route 24, reopened Thursday, over three weeks ahead of schedule. The bridge was first built in 1962 and prior to rehabilitation, handled an average of 279 vehicles per day.
The bridge was one of 31 bridges across Northwest Missouri rated poor that were grouped into the Northwest Bridge Bundle, including 12 alone in Chariton County. Rehabilitation continues on bridges for Route JJ over Slater Branch east of Rothville and Route D over the West Fork Bee Branch southwest of Bynumville. The Route 11 bridge over Salt Creek south of Mendon is listed next on MoDOT’s list of bridges due for rehabilitation.
