The Kansas City Chiefs have decisions to make after Thursday night’s 34-20 preseason loss to the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium, as attention turns to who makes the 53-man roster and practice squad.
Chris Oladokun didn’t help his case out in the bid to backup Patrick Mahomes and Carson Wentz, as he threw two costly interceptions in the second quarter to Bears cornerback Reddy Steward. The first one squelched an opportunity for the Chiefs to capitalize on a muffed punt, as Steward snatched Oladokun’s pass in the end zone. The other interception was returned by Steward 48 yards for a pick-six that made the score 20-7 at the half. The Chiefs’ Ian Book completed two fourth-quarter touchdown passes, but also had trouble capitalizing on a Bears turnover, throwing incomplete passes on third and fourth downs.
Carson Steele continued to shine for the Chiefs, scoring their first touchdown of the game on a one-yard rush. That second-quarter drive also saw him record runs of 18 and 31 yards.
The Chiefs finish the preseason 0-3, and have until Tuesday afternoon at 3 to complete their required pare-down of the regular season roster to 53. They’ll kick off the regular season at home September 5th against the Baltimore Ravens.
