The Odessa Board of Aldermen is holding a public hearing to allow public comments regarding the tax levy during its meeting Monday, August 26.
The board will hear comments regarding the property tax rate for the General and Park funds in the city’s budget. Following the hearing, the board will consider an ordinance to approve the proposed rate for the next fiscal year. Aldermen will need to pass the first and second readings at this meeting.
The board will also consider a bill to accept the results of the August 6 Primary Election. The city had a sales tax question on the ballot, asking voters if the city should impose a citywide sales tax of .5 percent for the purpose of improving public safety. The sales tax did not pass in the election.
The board will also consider a special event permit for Helping Hands of Odessa for a boot block event on Saturday, December 7.
The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Community Building, located at 601 West Main Street.
