JuJu Smith-Schuster is back in Kansas City following his departure from New England.
The wide receiver had 933 receiving yards on 78 catches and three touchdowns for the Chiefs in 2022, before making a move to New England. Amid injuries and inconsistent performance, he recorded a mere 29 catches for 260 yards as a Patriot last season.
His return comes amid the NFL’s deadline for teams to reduce their rosters to 53 active players. Ahead of Tuesday’s 3 p.m. deadline, the Chiefs have already given quarterback Ian Book and wide receivers Phillip Brooks, Jaaron Hayek and Kyle Sheets their walking papers. Also among the cuts are a pair of Kansas State graduates, cornerback Ekow Boye-Doe and long snapper Randen Plattner.
