The Odessa Board of Aldermen approved both readings of an ordinance to add an article relating to special event to the city’s Code of Ordinances during a recent meeting.
City Administrator Shawna Davis said this change affect the way special events are approved in the city.
The board approved both readings of an ordinance adding Article VIII to Chapter 2 of the city’s Code of Ordinances. This addition defines what a special event is and what guidelines the Odessa Administrative Staff will take in approving or denying them. Any special events that include alcohol will still need approval from the Board of Aldermen, according to Davis.
In other news, the board approved a request from Helping Hands of Odessa to hold a Boot Block event on the downtown four-way stop on Saturday, December 7.
