A one-vehicle accident in Cooper County on Tuesday afternoon sent the driver of a tractor trailer to a Columbia hospital with moderate injuries.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the accident on Interstate 70 near the 95.4 mile marker, six miles west of Boonville, around 1:30 p.m. According to troopers, 24-year-old Shawn Coffey of Excelsior Springs started to go off the left side of the eastbound lanes, when he overcorrected and ended up going off the right side of the interstate. His truck then overturned into a ditch. Troopers say Coffey was the only person involved in the accident and was wearing his seat belt.
