The Slater School District Board of Education considered a motion to move to a four day school week during its meeting on Tuesday, August 27.

The school board has heard updates from the Four Day School Week Committee in the last few months, reviewing feedback from the community and learning from other school districts regarding the change. Superintendent Terry Lorenz said board voted against the change to a four day school week with a unanimous vote. The motion failed to pass, at least for the 2024-2025 school year.

In other news, board President Jayme England resigned from the board after 14 years of service. Lorenz said the school district will find someone to fill the seat until the next election in April 2025. Vice President Matt Campbell will now preside over the meetings.
