The Kansas City Chiefs picked up another former New England Patriot this week as NFL teams established their practice squads.

When teams could begin that process late Wednesday morning, the Chiefs signed former Patriot quarterback Bailey Zappe to the practice squad. Zappe played in ten games for New England last season and started in six, throwing for 1272 yards and six touchdowns but also nine interceptions while enduring 25 sacks. The Western Kentucky product headlines the 17-member squad that retains offensive tackle Lucas Niang and wide receiver Justyn Ross, as well as rookie running back Emani Bailey and veteran safety Deon Bush.

The Chiefs kept tackle Chukwuebuka Godrick of Nigeria as their designated international player, allowing Welsh rugby convert Louis Rees-Zammit to look elsewhere. ESPN and Sky Sports report that Rees-Zammit could be joining the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. Other signings of note around the league include Mizzou alum Cody Schrader, who was picked up by the Los Angeles Rams and added to their roster after he was let go by San Francisco.
