The 11th ranked Mizzou Tigers jumped to an early lead and never looked back, blanking the Murray State Racers 51-0 on Thursday night at a sold-out Faurot Field.

Mizzou’s veteran standouts were quick to connect for the first score of the season, when Luther Burden III shrugged off a tackle and went 16 yards to the house.  That would turn out to be Brady Cook’s only touchdown throw in the game, and the Tigers added three rushing touchdowns in the first half, including a dash to the goal line by Cook just before halftime.  Cook would rest during the second half having completed 19 passes for 218 yards, while backup Drew Pyne completed ten passes for 82 yards. Toriano Pride Jr had a pick-six in the first quarter for the Tigers, while Craig Blake was six-for-six on PATs while connecting on second-half field goals of 39, 22, and 27 yards. Tristan Newson and Corey Flagg Jr each recorded five tackles, including one each for a loss, to lead Mizzou’s defense.

Mizzou start the season 1-0 and will next host the Bulls of Buffalo on Sept. 7th, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. KMMO-FM 102.9 will carry the game.
