The Kansas City Royals fell to the Houston Astros 7-2 on Sunday, September 1, getting swept by the leaders in the AL West.

The Astros struck first in the fourth, tagging Royals starter Alec Marsh for three runs. Kansas City would get on the board in the sixth with an RBI single from Yuli Gurriel, but Houston would get that run back in the bottom of the inning.

Bobby Witt Jr. hit his 30th home run in the seventh to get the Royals within two. The Astros pulled away again with three more runs against John Schreiber in the eighth.

Marsh took the loss, giving up three runs, four hits, and a walk over five innings of work.

Kansas City has now lost five in a row and slips 3.5 games back of Cleveland in the AL Central. The Royals are now also tied with the Twins.
