The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the New York Yankees 14-7 to win two out of three in the interleague matchup.

The Cardinals came out on top in a sloppy defensive showing from both teams that included multiple errors and defensive miscues. The St. Louis offensive helped the Cardinals overcome the poor defense by scoring 14 runs on 21 hits. The game was tied at seven in the seventh, where the Cardinals took control of the game by scoring five runs unanswered. They added two more in the ninth.

Luken Baker, Jordan Walker, and Lars Nootbar all homered for the Cardinals. Walker had a five hit game and drove in three runs, while Nootbar had five RBI.

Miles Mikolas went four innings, giving up five runs (three earned) on seven hits. Jojo Romero picked up the win, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless.

The Cardinals improve to 69-68, still 11 games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central and five games back of Atlanta for the last wild card spot.
