Arrow Rock Lyceum Theatre producing artistic director Quin Gresham will leave his role next month for a new position in Alabama.

The theatre announced Tuesday morning that Gresham will become the new artistic director of the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, drawing close the curtains on 19 seasons of directing at the Lyceum.

In a statement, Gresham called his time in Arrow Rock, “personally and professionally transformative” and that, “curating and fostering storytelling in such an unlikely setting has been and will always be an inspiration, but doing that work with such hardworking and sincerely wonderful people has amplified the magic tenfold.” Gresham made his first appearance on the Lyceum stage in 1999 and became the Lyceum’s fourth artistic director in 2004.

Gresham’s time at the Lyceum will close with performances of Moriarty: A New Sherlock Holmes Adventure and Million Dollar Quartet. In addition to developing next year’s program, Gresham will return to Arrow Rock this December to direct the tenth anniversary of his adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.

The Lyceum board of directors will soon announce plans for hiring Gresham’s successor.
