A contract is in the works for construction of the Saline County Welcome Center at the Marshall Junction.

Commissioners last week awarded the bid for the welcome center to Westport Construction of Clinton. The commission noted that while Westport’s base bid was slightly higher than that of Septagon Construction, Westport’s bids for all six add-ons came in lower. A spokesman for WSKF Architects tells KMMO News that the firm and Westport are in the process of completing paperwork to satisfy requirements for the grants that are covering much of the $1.6 million price tag.
