The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to a pair of accidents in Johnson County on Saturday, Sept. 7.

A collision north of Warrensburg around 10:30 a.m. involved a bicycle and caused serious injuries to a Warrensburg man.  The patrol reports that 55-year-old Markus Morgan was riding his bicycle on Route OO about a mile west of Route 13 when he was struck by a pickup driven by an 80-year-old from Warrensburg. Morgan was taken to a Kansas City area hospital. The driver of the truck had no reported injuries and was able to drive from the scene.

Troopers then responded to an accident just after 4 p.m. on Route Z, near the intersection with NW 930th Road. According to the patrol, an SUV driven by 36-year-old Thurman Swift of Odessa was driving north when his vehicle went off the roadway and struck a concrete culvert. Swift suffered minor injuries, while a nine-year-old girl from Warrensburg that was a passenger in his vehicle experienced moderate injuries. She was taken to a Kansas City area hospital, while Swift was taken to a Warrensburg hospital. Troopers say the driver was not wearing his seat belt.
