The petition calling for a vote on whether to enact property tax credits for senior citizens in Saline County will go on the Nov. 5th ballot.
Circuit judge Dennis Rolf signed off on a court order Tuesday morning, directing county clerk Brittni Burton to put the initiative on the ballot. Prosecuting attorney Tim Thompson said a review of the recently revised statute determined that a citizen petition was the only way the tax credit could appear on the ballot.
Thompson notes that the ballot language, which differed between the petition and the commission’s order, will substantially conform to the recently enacted Senate Bill 756.
Tuesday is the last day for a measure to appear on or candidate to withdraw from the Nov. 5th ballot by court order.
