The City of Glasgow approved a bid Monday night for a water line extension in the northern part of the city.

At Monday night’s meeting, the board of aldermen accepted the bid from ACJ Construction of Boonville to install a 300-foot water line extension of the Eighth Street main. City administrator Robert Snider says the project will extend the main to Randolph Road and eliminate a dead-end in the system, potentially increasing water pressure for residents in the area. ACJ Construction is currently working on a sewer line reconstruction project in the city and will begin work on the main extension after completing the sewer line. The bid came in at $39,500.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the board agreed to hire Kelly Norris as the city’s part-time building inspector, and established building permit fees. Aldermen also received a presentation on plans for the city’s website, after the previous one crashed in July. Snider says one bid has been received, but the city is looking for additional bidders. He continues to anticipate the city’s new website going online by the end of the year.

The Glasgow Board of Aldermen will meet in special session Monday evening at 7 p.m. to consider a proposed rezoning and site plan for a proposed new business moving into the area. The business is seeking to locate on a lot currently zoned industrial, but after public comment the planning and zoning commission voted last month to forward a request to rezone the lot as commercial. The commission is also meeting Monday night to review the site plan.
