Helen Merchant, 100, of Liberty, MO, formerly of Marshall, MO, died Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Pleasant Valley Manor in Liberty.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 16, 2024, at Campbell-Lewis Chapel in Marshall with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Randal DeMasters officiating.  Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Born July 15, 1924, in Saline County, MO, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Kenneth Epperson and Florence Elizabeth Minks Epperson. On June 15, 1946, she married Vaughn “Cotton” Merchant who preceded her in death on September 9, 2011. She retired from the City Collector’s office of Marshall in 1984. Helen lived her entire life in Marshall until 2013 when she moved to Leesburg, FL to be with family. She returned to Missouri in 2017 residing in Liberty. She had been a member of the First Christian Church since 1936 where she was active until moving to Florida. She loved reading, cooking, sewing and flower gardening.

Survivors include two children, Marilyn K. Rapp of Liberty and Ken Merchant (Kathy) of Corpus Christi, TX; three grandchildren, Michael S. Tuck (Julie) of Smithville, MO, Christina L. Tuck of Liberty and B.J. Tuck (Sky) of Columbia, MO; four great-grandchildren, Courtney Tuck, Katie Chamberlane (Mike), Corey Tuck and Jude King; one great-great-granddaughter, Sophie Chamberlane; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Epperson; and a son-in-law, Dale Rapp.
