A Saline County resident has filed paperwork to run for Northern District Commissioner as a write-in candidate.
The Saline County Clerk’s Office confirms to KMMO News that Wayne Keehart has completed the paperwork required to declare himself as a write-in candidate on the November 5th General Election ballot. Current Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden had been running unopposed on the ballot after she claimed 45 percent of the vote in last month’s Republican primary.
Under Missouri state law, a write-in candidate’s name is not printed on the ballot, nor is their name posted at the polling place. Votes for a write-in candidate are only counted if a declaration of intent is submitted to the election authority prior to October 25th.
