The Town of Carrollton remains determined to flag down a major Amtrak passenger line.
The town council considered appointments to the city’s Amtrak station board during their meeting Monday night. Mayor Susan Bliss says two years after the state agreed to provide funds to help make Carrollton a stop on the Southwest Chief, the city is awaiting more information from BNSF, the company that owns the track on which the train runs.
The Southwest Chief runs once per day in each direction between Chicago and Los Angeles, making stops in Kansas City and La Plata. Marceline had been a stop until 1997.
