The Kansas City Royals fell to the San Francisco Giants 2-1, dropping their fifth straight game.
The Giants took an early lead in the first, scoring a run off an RBI single against Michael Wacha. The Giants added another RBI single in the sixth, also charged to Wacha.
Wacha went 5 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Angel Zerpa, John Schreiber, and Steven Cruz held the Giants scoreless the rest of the way.
Kansas City attempted to mount a comeback in the ninth, loading the bases with one out. Garrett Hampson would drive in a run with a sacrifice fly, but that would be the Royals could get.
The Royals fall to 82-72, 7.5 games back of Cleveland in the AL Central. The Royals still have a one-game lead over the Twins for the second wild card spot.
