Repairs to a bridge outside Orearville are expected to take place next month.

Saline County Southern District Commissioner Monte Fenner announced at Wednesday’s regular session of the county commission that repairs to the Melody Avenue Bridge over Rock Creek will soon begin.

Fenner also provided an update on repairs to the Saline County Jail following the fire earlier this year.

Also at Wednesday’s session, the Saline County Commission approved a temporary hire for the county clerk’s office and approved two liquor licenses, one for Bud’s Cafe and the other for the soon-to-reopen J Huston Tavern in Arrow Rock.

The commission also announced a special session for Oct. 16 to formally sign the paperwork approving Westport Construction of Clinton as the builder of the Saline County Visitors Center at the Marshall Junction. The special meeting will precede the quarterly meeting of Develop Saline County.
