
This week’s homecoming festivities in Sedalia mark the 100th anniversary of Smith-Cotton High School.
Superintendent Dr Todd Fraley says events this week including Thursday morning’s recognition of this year’s Distinguished Alumni Award recipient by the Sedalia School District Foundation.
Brown graduated from Smith-Cotton in 1965 and was the voice of the Astros from 1987 to 2016. Fraley adds that the community is encouraged to attend Friday’s parade at 3 p.m. in downtown Sedalia.
Smith-Cotton High School will have its homecoming pep rally at 8:30 a.m., and all of Sedalia Schools will release two hours early Friday. The district will also offer tours of the original Smith-Cotton High School—now the junior high building—on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
