Born January 13, 1937 in Slater, she was the youngest of nine children born to the late Harry and Erie Bobo Booth. On January 23, 1955 at Slater Presbyterian Church, she married Robert Griffitt, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1993.
She is survived by three children: Vicki (Ray) Cummiskey, Craig (Mary) Griffitt, Michael (Loretta) Griffitt; five grandchildren: Kelly (Brice) Spridgen, Brooke (David) Hendricks, Bryan (Brittany) Cummiskey, Logan Cummiskey, Carly (Jared) Heern; four great grandchildren: Blake Hendricks, Deacon Hendricks, Parker Cummiskey and Evelyn Cummiskey; one sister, Irene Mullineaux, one sister-in-law, Jean Booth, and numerous nieces and nephews, all beloved family members. She was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters.
Mrs. Booth was a lifelong Presbyterian, baptized at the Slater Presbyterian Church, and later became a member of the VanBrunt Presbyterian Church in Kansas City. She was a 1954 graduate of Slater High School. She and her sister Joyce Booth McMillan were known as “The Booth Sister”, and performed county and gospel music during their own program on KMMO Radio in Marshall, each Saturday for several years during the 1950s. She had worked at Rice-Stix Garment Factory in Slater, later at Mode O’ Day and Reynolds Book Bindery. She grew up in Slater, and she and her husband moved and raised their children in Kansas City, Missouri. The family enjoyed weekends at their cabin at the lake near Warsaw, Missouri. Preparing for Robert’s retirement, the couple moved to their 80-acre farm in Bogard, Missouri where she lived for over 20 years after her husband’s passing in 1993. She moved from the farm in 2016 to her daughter’s St. Louis area home, and later moved to an assisted living apartment in Lebanon. She enjoyed what she called ‘real’ country music, baking the most incredible carrot cake and apple dumplings, making and partaking of family dinners and gatherings, canning, gardening shopping, and collecting (a.k.a. hoarding, now a family legacy), and her closets were legendary.
