Cooper County Sheriff deputies conducted an investigation at the 104 Interstate 70 Westbound Rest area, which lead to the arrest of a Columbia man on Tuesday, October 1.
According to a probable cause statement, deputies found evidence on social media of a subject identified as Jay Miller smoking methamphetamine out of a glass device at the rest area. Authorities arrived at the scene and made contact with Miller, detaining him without incident. Deputies located a white crystal substance confirmed to be methamphetamine and a pill bottle with Diazepam pills.
Deputies also searched Miller’s phone and found evidence of him conducting sexual acts on himself in public spaces while dressed as a woman.
Court documents say Miller has been charged with two felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and three misdemeanors for sexual misconduct in the first degree. Bond was set at $20,000 cash or surety.
