It only took two minutes Saturday for Temwa Chawinga to tie the NWSL single season scoring record, as the Malawian striker claimed her 18th goal to help the Kansas City Current defeat Racing Louisville 2-0 in Louisville.

Chawinga’s goal brings her level with Australian legend Sam Kerr, who set the record in 2019 with Chicago. The Current picked up a goal late from Vanessa DiBernardo, while Almuth Schult recorded three saves in the shutout.

The Current remain in fourth on 46 points, and have three games remaining to shore up their playoff positioning. They’ll make their first trip to San Jose next Saturday to face Bay FC.
