The ninth-ranked Mizzou Tigers suffered its largest defeat in 12 seasons, falling in their first road game of the season Saturday to the #25 Texas A&M Aggies, 41-10.

The Aggies struck first and scored 17 points in the first quarter, then added another touchdown in the second quarter before scoring on the first play in the third quarter to bring about the rout. Mizzou attempted to keep pace early, but the opening drive fell apart on fourth down when an apparent pass interference penalty was waived off. The following drive stalled when a 75-yard pass from Brady Cook to Luther Burden III was called back after a Mizzou lineman went downfield before the pass. From there, the Aggie defense dismantled the Tigers, sacking Cook six times and limiting him to just 13 pass completions out of 31 attempts for 186 yards. Seven of those passes was to Burden for 82 yards, while Theo Wease got Mizzou on the board with a 59-yard touchdown catch in the third quarter. Blake Craig added a field goal with seconds remaining in the lopsided contest.

Texas A&M’s Conner Weigman got the start amid questions about his readiness after an injury in the Aggies’ opener against Notre Dame, and showed no weariness, passing for 276 yards and completing 18 out of 22 passes for 276 yards. The ground game gashed the Tigers, with Le’Veon Moss running for 138 yards and three scores.

Mizzou’s winning streak was snapped at eight games, as the Tigers fall to 4-1 on the season and 1-1 in the conference. The Tigers remain on the road next weekend, as they visit Amherst to take on the Massachusetts Minutemen. Game time Saturday is 11 a.m., with pregame at 9 a.m. on KMMO.
