The City of Higginsville is moving forward with a $3,871,000 project to rebuild their municipal airport’s runway.

The Board of Aldermen voted Monday night to approve the contract agreement with Capital Paving and Construction. City Administrator Jeanette Dobson tells KMMO News that grants are covering 90 percent of the cost. The board also approved a supplemental agreement for the project with Crawford, Murphy and Tilly.

Also at Monday night’s meeting, the board granted a conditional use permit to a seed dealership seeking to open on East 17th Street, and formally commissioned Dyllan Ratigan as a reserve police officer. The board also approved a request from the Chamber of Commerce to close Main Street from 18th to 22nd Street on Halloween evening from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
