Three goals in two minutes flipped the script favorably for the Saint Louis Blues, as they stunned the Seattle Kraken 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon at Climate Pledge Arena in the NHL season opener.

All five goals in the game were scored in the second period, starting with former Blues defenseman Vince Dunn putting the home team on the board just 27 seconds in. Eeli Tolvanen added Seattle’s second goal two minutes later. The period was chippy, as eight of the nine penalties called were in the middle frame. That included a penalty that set up Jordan Kyrou’s power-play goal just 28 seconds into the advantage. Philip Broberg scored in his Blues debut with four-and-a-half minutes remaining in the second, and Kyrou put the Blues up for good just 20 seconds later.

Jordan Binnington had an early workout, stopping 30 of the Kraken’s 32 shots on goal. The Blues posted a 56-44 advantage on faceoffs won to keep Seattle from retaking the lead.

The Blues’ West Coast swing to start the season continues Thursday with a visit to the San Jose Sharks. Puck drop is at 9:30 p.m.
