
James Howard Fox, 88, of Jefferson City, MO, died Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at his home in Jefferson City.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 18, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall with Fr. Francis Doyle officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Ridge Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Born January 4, 1936, in Quincy, IL, he was the son of the late Howard L. Fox and Ruth Helen Cobb Fox. Jim lived in the Saline County area for many years, was a 1953 graduate of Mercy Academy and a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. When he moved to Jefferson City he transferred his membership to Immaculate Conception Church. He joined the United States Army in 1954 and served for two years in Germany and was able to visit many of the European countries. Jim attended the University of Missouri- Columbia and then, in 1956, began a 35 year career with the Army Corps of Engineers as a licensed surveyor. On September 6, 1963, he married Dorthy May Cundiff who preceded him in death on August 5, 2021. Jim will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, sports, but most of all his humble and kind spirit.
Survivors include four children: Debra Mullins of Sweet Springs, Darrell Ivie of Marshall Junction, Julie Fox of Oklahoma City, OK, and Terry Fox (Deidra) of Warsaw; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two brothers, Sam Fox (Lillian) of Phoenix, AZ and Dan Fox (Joyce) of New Braunfels, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family.
In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Campbell; son-in-law, Jim Mullins; and two brothers, Ben and Tom Fox.
