The descendants of veterans buried in a Saline County cemetery are encouraging the community to join the effort to clean the grounds.
A group of volunteers led by the American Infidels Veterans Motorcycle Club of Missouri will gather Saturday morning at the Nelson African American Cemetery, just off Route H north of the town. Clarissa Huston tells KMMO News that parts of the cemetery are overgrown with brush.
Huston says the veterans group has begun the process, but that it will take several visits to clear out all the brush and keep the grounds clear.
The Nelson African American Cemetery is located at the northwest corner of Route H and 152nd Road. Volunteers are asked to show up at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 and bring saws, loppers, and chairs. Lunch will be provided.
