Girls’ golf district action picks back up Monday, Oct. 14 on several courses around the state.

Golfers from Marshall and Warrensburg will be in the mix at the Class Three, District Four tournament at the Eagles’ Landing Golf Course in Belton. The top two teams, along with the top 13 individuals from the remaining teams, will advance to the state tournament set for October 21st and 22nd at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.

Eldon will host the Class Two, District Two tournament today. Among the teams taking part in this district are Boonville, Macon, Moberly, Oak Grove, Odessa, Richmond, and Sacred Heart. Winners advance to the Class Two tournament next week at the Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa.

District tournaments in Class One took place last Wednesday. In District Two at the L A Nickell course in Columbia, Stover advanced their team to state with a total score of 405, good for second place. Mia Rowland finished tied for second with a score of 89, eight strokes behind individual champion Heng Zhang of Whitfield. Brooklyn Black finished sixth with a score of 95. Harrisburg finished third but advanced four golfers to state: Lindsey Burbridge, Izabella Twenter-Savvenas, Charlotte Canote, and Macklynn Spry. Area golfers also advancing to state include Karsyn Massie of Glasgow, Charlee Bailey of Tipton, and Katherine Hutchinson and Oakleigh Hill of Fayette. Duchesne High School of St Charles won the district with a low score of 386.

The District Three tournament at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly saw Marceline’s Ella Sportsman tie for top individual honors with 88. Maggie Bennett and Kierstyn Sutch finished third and fourth individually to lead Brookfield to a third-place team finish, six strokes behind Monroe City for the second qualifying position and 26 behind district champions Highland. Averie Wilhoit of Salisbury, Macie Harman of Cairo also advanced to the Class One state tournament, which will take place at the Crown Pointe Golf Club in Farmington.

Two Smith-Cotton golfers finished tied for 12th at last Thursday’s Class Four, District Three tournament in Joplin. Charlotte Fischer and Hannah Lowman each recorded an 88 score, contributing to Smith-Cotton’s total score of 382, good for sixth. Both golfers qualify for the state tournament at the Dalhouse Golf Club in Cape Girardeau.
