Habitat for Humanity has selected the location of their next home in Marshall.

Mayor Vince Lutterbie informed the council during his report at Tuesday night’s city council meeting that the organization was in the process of receiving applications from prospective residents and was ready to begin building.

Lutterbie informally polled the council of their opinion, and none of the six council members present expressed objection. A formal vote to transfer the property from the city would need to take place.

Also at Tuesday night’s meeting, the council approved the second reading of three ordinances renewing agreements and contracts with the Marshall Municipal Band, Marshall Community Chorus, and Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra. The council also agreed to keep the next council meeting on the evening of Nov. 5, which is Election Day.
