Four Kansas City Royals players, along with three from the St Louis Cardinals, are among the finalists for this season’s Gold Glove award.
Both Cole Ragans and Seth Lugo are in the top three for pitchers in the American League. The two combined to establish one of the strongest batteries in baseball this season, aided by catcher Freddy Fermin, who is in the running for that Gold Glove. The two Royals pitchers are challenged by Griffin Canning of the Angels, while Fermin will go up against Cal Raleigh of the Mariners and Jake Rogers of the Tigers. Bobby Witt Jr is again a finalist for top shortstop, as is last year’s winner, the Yankees’ Anthony Volpe. They’ll also face Brayan Rocchio of the Guardians
As for the National League, Nolan Arenado is in the top three of third basemen, joining the Giants’ Matt Chapman and the Rockies’ Ryan McMahon. Masyn Winn at shortshop also goes up against a Rockies player, Ezequiel Tovar, as well as the two-time defending Gold Glove winner Dansby Swanson of the Cubs. Brendan Donovan is in the running for his second utility player Gold Glove after winning the first-ever honor in 2022. He goes up against Kiké Hernández of the Dodgers and Jared Triolo of the Pirates.
This year’s winners will be announced the evening of Nov. 3.
