Sweet Springs City Clerk Michelle Fuehring announced at the meeting of the develop Saline County Advisory Board that a new truck stop will be built in city limits beginning next year.
Fuehring said Road Ranger is committed to setting up operations in Sweet Springs. The truck stop will be located on the northeast quadrant of the city, across from where the Fire Department is located. Fuehring says the business the truck stop will bring will be good for the growth of the city.
The city expects to break ground on the truck stop in 2025. The city has entered into a $600,000 cost-share agreement with the Missouri Department of Transportation to remove a hill along Missouri 127 that is causing line-of sight issues for drivers at the location where the truck stop will be. The city will use that funding along with the funds received from the Develop Saline County Advisory Board to help cover the cost of this project.
