A Sedalia woman was killed Wednesday, Oct. 17 after a two-vehicle collision west of the city.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 80-year-old Gayline Leafty was driving her car north on Quisenberry Road around 4:25 p.m. Troopers say that Leafty failed to yield to a westbound semi-truck driven by a man from Texas, and was struck by the truck. Leafty was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck’s driver had no reported injuries.

The intersection was closed for five hours Wednesday night as law enforcement investigated the crash. The patrol says that 72 people have died in accidents that have occurred in the patrol’s Troop A region this year.
