Waves of congratulatory statements continue to pour in for Greg Schmidt, who has broadcast high school sports for KMMO since 1984 and is preparing for his 6000th game Friday night in Sweet Springs.
Schmidt notes that even with the milestone being celebrated, he’s maintaining his focus on the eight-man football clash between Sweet Springs and Concordia.
Schmidt explains the amount of work that goes into preparing for each broadcast.
And he gives us a preview of the clash between I-70 rivals.
Greg Schmidt called his first games while as a student at Central Missouri State University in the 1970s before working in Lexington. His 6000th broadcast airs Friday, Oct. 18, with pregame at 6:40 p.m. and kickoff at 7 p.m., on KMMO-FM 102.9.
