The Glasgow Board of Aldermen heard from their bonding firm on their options to finance two bridge projects undertaken in the city.

At Tuesday night’s meeting, a representative from McClinney and Associates addressed aldermen on the options available to issue bonds totaling $850,000. City administrator Robert Snider tells KMMO News that the bond was needed to cover the higher cost of the projects to replace the Industrial Drive and Schnell Drive bridges over Greggs Creek earlier this year. Snider says the initial bond was for $500,000, and that even with project costs fully reimbursed, the reimbursement was not enough to cover the additional costs. Aldermen are expected to receive a bond proposal with rates at their November meeting,

Also last Tuesday, the board learned that they now have access to four-point-eight-five million dollars in funding through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Snider says the city will gauge public interest in the near future to determine what projects to pursue with the state grants. The board also passed ordinances approving the contract with Glasgow’s new building inspector, as well as the contract with ACJ Construction of Boonville for the 300-foot extension of the water main along Eighth Street.
