The electric flag is back atop the Saline County Courthouse, allowing Old Glory to once again glow from the north side of the clock tower.
Crews with G and S Electrical reinstalled the 107-year-old flag Thursday, Oct. 18 after a three-month effort to refurbish the fixture. The company called in Bob Holloman of Sedalia to help program the wave. Holloman spoke with KMMO News as the flag was on its way up, and tell us reprogramming the flag’s wave was an unusual challenge for him to solve.
The flag restoration was part of Saline County’s $264,000 project to repair the courthouse roof. The electric flag is one of two in the nation installed at a county courthouse; the other is located on the Nicholas County Courthouse in Carlisle, Kentucky.
