The St Louis Blues claimed three goals in the middle frame to take the lead, but then needed a go-ahead shot from Kasperi Kapanen to put away the Carolina Hurricanes at the Enterprise Center 4-3 on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The Hurricanes scored the only goal in the opening period, but then fell behind quickly in the second period when Mathieu Joseph and Jack Neighbours netted goals near the halfway point. Dylan Holloway added a goal with 6:30 remaining in the period. The Hurricanes struck twice in the third to tie the match, with two goals in the first three minutes, only for Kapanen’s first goal of the year to lift the Blues to victory.
Joel Hofer recorded 37 saves for the Blues, while Philip Broberg made it six games with a goal or assist in as many games wearing the Note.
The Blues are now fourth in the Central Division with eight points. They wrap up the four-game home stand with a visit from the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday.
