Three people suffered injuries–one seriously–after their all-terrain vehicle crashed in a Johnson County field Saturday, Oct. 19.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the ATV driven by 36-year-old Benjamin Holcomb of Lee’s Summit hit a bump as it was going westbound on an abandoned railroad alignment off Southwest 700th Road north of La Tour just before 6 p.m. Saturday.  Holcomb lost control and the ATV overturned. He sustained serious injuries and was flown to a Kansas City area hospital. Two passengers on the vehicle were treated at the scene for minor injuries. Troopers say Holcomb was not wearing the proper safety gear, while his passengers were.
