The office of Saline County Clerk Brittni Burton completed the required public test of election equipment Thursday, Oct. 24.
Burton says the test was considered successful, indicating that the office is ready to count votes in the Nov. 5 general election.
After verifying the count, the two participating judges (Democrat Mary LaFrenz and Republican Lea Anne Evans) drew a precinct at random to determine whose votes would be verified with a hand count following the election.
Burton also notes heavy participation for no-excuse absentee voting in her office. She tells KMMO News that 133 voters cast their ballots Tuesday, the first day voters could do so, with another 148 voters dropping by on Wednesday.
