Two Gilliam residents were injured in a one-vehicle crash west of Malta Bend late Thursday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that just after 5 p.m., a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Zachary Womack ran off the northbound lane of Route 65 a half-mile west of Route 127. Womack overcorrected, causing the vehicle to go across the roadway and exit the left side, overturning several times and ejecting Womack. He suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. A nine-year-old boy in the car sustained minor injuries and was also treated at a nearby hospital. Troopers say the boy was wearing his seat belt, while Womack was not.
