Lafayette County’s Elena Williams has captured the 2024-2025 MSHSAA Singles Class 1 Girls Tennis State Championship after defeating Columbia Independent’s Zaylee Rose on Friday, October 25.

Williams won the match in two sets, defeating Rose 6-3 and 6-0 at the Cooper Tennis Complex. Williams put together a dominant performance on her way to the state title, only dropping one set out of the four matches she played Thursday and Friday.

Clayton’s Julia Cramer defeated Naiyah Wurdeman, of Carl junction, in the third place match, winning the match in two sets. Elizabeth Smith, of Monett, took fifth place by beating North County’s Anna Floris in three sets 6-3, 3-6, and 10-5.
